Job Summary
Ophthalmologist at the Department of Veterans Affairs Community Based Outpatient Clinic in Stockton, CA provides direct patient care for eye conditions (cataract, glaucoma, age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy) including cataract surgery, laser therapy, injections, and comprehensive eye care. Administrative duties include clinic operations oversight, supervising ophthalmology residents, medical record documentation in an electronic system, and participation in Process Improvement/Quality Assurance and Medical Staff activities to maintain Joint Commission readiness. Eligible for sign-on relocation incentives, Education Debt Reduction Program, and federal benefits. Schedule typically Monday–Friday 8:00am–4:30pm with occasional Saturday clinics; competitive salary with bonuses and federal benefits.
Required Qualifications
- MD or DO degree
- Medical license: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory
- Board certification in Ophthalmology or eligibility
- Ability to perform cataract surgery and manage eye conditions such as cataract, glaucoma, AMD, diabetic retinopathy
