Job Summary
Lead medical direction and quality management for CBP operations, including oversight of emergency medical services, tactical medicine, and contingency response efforts. Manage the medical quality assurance program, EMR systems, and prescription equipment procurement while ensuring compliance with DHS protocols and documentation standards. Provide medical guidance for unique missions, conduct post-incident reviews, and facilitate EMS working groups for policy development. Liaise with DHS OHS to align training and certification standards, ensuring accountability across component EMS programs. Requires a board-certified physician with significant medical program leadership experience in a fast-paced federal environment.
Required Qualifications
- Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to pass a DHS Full Scope Background Investigation
- Minimum qualifications include a Doctor of Medicine or Osteopathy Degree from an accredited institution
- current unrestricted state license to practice medicine
- board-certification in a relevant medical specialty field
- Significant experience in medical program leadership, to include electronic medical record management, medical data and information management, medical quality management
- Permanent, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in a State, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States
- Must be board certified/board eligible in a relevant specialty field (for example, but not limited to emergency medicine, family medicine)
- High degree of independence, initiative, and follow-through on a wide range of sensitive, complex issues
- Must be able to manage an extremely fast-paced work environment with significant responsibility and short deadlines
- Must have excellent oral and written communication skills and be comfortable with skilled building and maintaining relationships with partners across the federal government
Desired Qualifications
- Relevant prior operational medicine experience, in a military, law enforcement, humanitarian setting highly desired
- Prior Department of War or Department of Homeland Security background investigation a huge plus
