Job Summary

Provide diagnostic, therapeutic, preventive, and emergency medical care for the inmate and detainee population at Federal Correctional Institution (Atlanta). Conduct patient evaluations, physical exams, and medical histories while ordering and interpreting labs, imaging, and diagnostic tests. Diagnose conditions, develop treatment plans, prescribe medications, and perform minor procedures including suturing and splinting. Manage daily sick call and clinic operations, respond to medical emergencies, and document all encounters. Collaborate with healthcare staff to improve patient care and recognize abnormal findings. Maintain professional boundaries and follow security protocols in this full-time independent contractor role with Monday–Friday hours from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM.

Required Qualifications

  • MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school
  • Active, unrestricted medical license in any U.S. state or territory
  • Minimum 3 years of physician experience
  • Current CPR/BLS certification (American Heart Association)
  • Pass federal background clearance
  • Complete FCI Atlanta orientation and security training
  • Maintain compliance with Bureau of Prisons Health Services policies
  • Maintain confidentiality of inmate medical records
  • Report any professional license restrictions, suspensions, or disciplinary actions
  • Maintain professional boundaries and follow security protocols
  • Ensure equal access to medically necessary care for all patients
  • Professional attire required (scrubs permitted; no khaki, green, or yellow scrubs)
