Job Summary
Assess drug and alcohol use severity using screening tools and DSM criteria, then determine medication withdrawal management to prevent complications. Prescribe medically assisted treatments, educate patients on Naloxone, and diagnose and treat common illnesses and injuries related to addiction use disorders. Maintain detailed patient records, interpret laboratory tests, and collaborate with behavior health and psychiatry teams. Provide oversight for Advanced Practice Providers, including input on clinical reviews, appraisals, and hiring. Manage medical assistant and registered nurse functions within the MAT treatment team, with potential night or weekend shifts.
Required Qualifications
- M.D. or D. O. degree from an accredited United States medical school
- Successfully completed internship and residency at an accredited United States Internship or Residency Program
- Board Certified in family medicine or internal medicine
- Board certified or registered in addiction medicine, or equivalent experience
- Valid and active California medical license
- Eligible to participate in the CMS Medicaid/Medicare reimbursement programs
- Valid and active DEA license with X waiver to prescribe buprenorphine
- Possession of a current, valid California License to practice as a Physician Assistant issued by the California Board of Medical Quality Assurance
- Current BLS/ACLS certificate or recertification within two months of hire
- Possession or DEA license and X waiver or will obtain one within one month of hire
- Must complete background check and Livescan
- Covid-19 vaccine and booster is required for this position
