Job Summary
Diagnose and treat detainee patients, manage emergency care for staff and visitors, and render medical judgments in compliance with Community Standards of Care. Conduct physical examinations, order and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe medications, and maintain comprehensive medical records including admission notes, progress notes, and discharge summaries. Provide after-hours and weekend patient care as part of a rotation, refer patients for specialty consultations, and monitor potential catastrophic illnesses. Implement cost containment strategies, ensure HIPAA compliance, and perform rescue functions during accidents and disasters. Assist with detainee lawsuits and facilitate NCCHC/ACA accreditation of the medical program. Requires a Texas medical license, DEA certification, and BLS training. Full-time day schedule with potential on-call rotation.
Required Qualifications
- MD or DO Board Certified or Board eligible in Emergency Medicine, Family Practice or Internal Medicine
- Valid license to practice medicine in the state of Texas
- Current continuing education required by MTC Medical and professional regulatory board
- Current DEA
- Current BLS certification
- Must successfully complete required pre service training
- Valid driver's license in the state of Texas with an acceptable driving record
- Must be able to serve in rotation with other providers to provide after-hours and weekend patient care, if required, to include accepting on-call rotation
- Must successfully complete annual in-service training requirements
- Must maintain appropriate facility clearance
