Job Summary
Manage complicated medical problems including congestive heart failure, hypertension, and diabetes as the primary care physician for adult patients with acute and chronic illnesses. Conduct physical examinations, order laboratory tests, make definitive diagnoses, and prescribe treatment while admitting patients to the hospital when appropriate. Provide inpatient and outpatient consultation for the Internal Medicine Service, perform graded exercise tests, and offer preoperative recommendations to surgical specialties. Supervise house staff and residents, participate in teaching activities, and contribute to quality improvement processes and utilization management. Maintain specialty-specific continuing medical education to satisfy licensing and accreditation requirements.
Required Qualifications
- US Citizenship
- Board Certified/Eligible
- Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy from a school in the United States or Canada approved by a recognized accrediting body in the year of the applicants graduation
- permanent certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) (or a fifth pathway certificate for Americans who completed premedical education in the United States and graduate education in a foreign country)
- permanent, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in a State, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States
