Job Summary
The Staff Hepatologist will provide specialized care for patients with advanced liver disease and liver transplant candidates and recipients, emphasizing clinical excellence and active participation in multidisciplinary transplant services. Responsibilities include comprehensive evaluation and management of patients, collaboration with a transplant team, adhering to transplant protocols, participating in quality improvement initiatives, and engaging in research and education, including teaching medical students and residents. Candidates must possess an MD or DO degree, be board certified in Gastroenterology and Transplant Hepatology, complete the requisite fellowships, and have strong clinical expertise.
Required Qualifications
- MD or DO degree
- Board certified in Gastroenterology and Transplant Hepatology
- Completion of an ACGME-accredited Gastroenterology fellowship and Transplant Hepatology fellowship
- Eligible for appointment at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor
- Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary academic and clinical environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to patient-centered care, teaching, and continuous quality improvement
Desired Qualifications
- Demonstrated clinical experience in transplant hepatology
- Academic medical center or high-volume transplant program experience preferred
Additional Requirements
- Applicants must have or be able to obtain an Oklahoma medical license prior to employment
- Candidates are eligible for faculty appointments through the OU College of Medicine - appointment rank will be commensurate with academic accomplishment and experience
- Continued employment will be contingent upon successfully obtaining Board Certification in the eligibility timeframe of your specialty
