Job Summary

Hematology/Oncology physician role at VAMC Martinsburg: provide direct hands-on patient care for hematology/oncology patients, determine admission needs, manage outpatient care, coordinate referrals within VA and community, educate patients/families, document medical assessments, supervise and teach residents and mid-level practitioners, enter orders in CPRS, and participate in meetings and departmental activities. Emphasis on comprehensive clinical evaluation, inter-professional collaboration, adherence to infection prevention, and commitment to serving veterans and their families.

Required Qualifications

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from a school approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs
  • Current, full and unrestricted medical license to practice in a U.S. state/territory/DC
  • Completed residency in an ACGME-accredited program or AOA-accredited program (or equivalent training with verified practice in the U.S.) leading to board eligibility
  • Board certification or eligibility in hematology/oncology (or eligibility for VA faculty status)
  • Ability to provide direct hands-on patient care including evaluation and treatment of hematology/oncology patients
  • Experience with supervision/teaching of residents/students and mid-level practitioners
  • Proficiency with CPRS or equivalent.
