Job Summary

Examine and treat common acute, chronic illnesses, and injuries for patients of all ages, including walk-ins, while managing a target of 18 patients daily. Order laboratory tests and radiological studies, write prescriptions, and refer to specialists as needed within the scope of expertise protocols. Perform relevant office procedures with complete documentation in the EPIC electronic medical record and supervise NPs adequately. Respond to patient special needs and handle afterhours calls by telephone only during scheduled two-week rotations, three times a year. Maintain professional courtesy, answer general phone calls timely, and ensure on-time charting and EMR completion per company policy.

Required Qualifications

  • Doctorate in Medicine or Doctorate in Osteopathy
  • Completion of post-graduate residency in family medicine
  • Bachelor's Degree from a 4-year college or university
  • Unrestricted, active medical license in California
  • Active DEA registration or eligibility to obtain
  • Board-certified in Family Medicine
  • Competency of EPIC electronic medical record
  • Ability to read and interpret documents, such as policies and procedures, benefits information, benefit surveys, board minutes, routine mail, simple contracts, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to compose routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to speak effectively with employees, visitors, and management
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as milligram per kilogram dosages, ratios, discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, and the ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
  • Ability to apply common sense to daily situations that arise
  • Ability to make decisions and execute timely in order to produce a positive outcome
  • Demonstrate ability and flexibility to work in other areas of the organization as needed
  • Adhere to company's policies and procedures
  • Maintain active DEA, CPR, and state of CA license
  • Demonstrate a broad knowledge of and competency in management and supervisory functions
  • Demonstrate knowledge of current compliance standards for federal, state and local regulatory agencies
  • Maintain and promote a safe work environment
  • Demonstrate proficiency in computer applications such as Microsoft Excel, Power Point, Word, and Outlook
  • Understand and commit to maintaining highest level of confidentiality
  • Demonstrated ability to build the trust and respect of patients, staff, colleagues, and other external contacts
  • Excellent problem-solving skills required, including creativity, resourcefulness, timeliness, and technical knowledge related to analyzing and resolving medical problems
  • Sensitivity to needs of culturally and linguistically diverse patient and employee population
  • Must be able to screen out the background noise to concentrate on the work at hand
  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds
  • Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds
  • Must have close vision
  • Must have color vision
  • Must have ability to adjust focus
  • Willing to participate in after-hour call (two consecutive weeks, approximately three times a year, depending on staffing)
  • May participate in Saturday clinic rotation

Desired Qualifications

  • At least two years of experience (preferred); new graduates welcome to apply
  • Previous ambulatory clinical experience above and beyond residency (preferred)
  • Prior experience with Patient Centered Medical Home model of care delivery
  • Working knowledge of medical Spanish
