Job Summary

Physician (Family Medicine) position at the Williamsburg Community Based Medical Home in Williamsburg, VA. Provides comprehensive primary care to infants, children, youth, and adults in an outpatient clinic within a military policy framework. Must be board certified or eligible in Family Medicine, ACLS-certified, and able to perform protocols unsupervised. Responsibilities include preventive, diagnostic, and therapeutic services, care coordination, and duty-specific tasks such as periodic physicals, fitness-for-duty evaluations, medical boards, and aeromedical summaries. Works under general professional direction with substantial independence and limited supervision; interacts with the Chief of the Department of Primary Care. Salary determined by tiered pay structure; US citizenship and licensure requirements apply.

Required Qualifications

  • Degree: Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO), or equivalent, accredited in the United States or Canada; equivalency demonstrated via ECFMG or other recognized pathways
  • Current, active, full, and unrestricted medical license/registration in the United States (state, DC, PR, or US territory)
  • Board certification or eligibility in Family Medicine
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification and ability to perform protocols unsupervised
  • Residency training in Family Medicine (4 years) or equivalent experience
  • Commitment to provide primary care across age groups (infants to adults) per standards of care and military policy
  • Eligibility/ability to work within military medical regulations and perform military-specific medical tasks (e.g., periodic physical exams, fitness-for-duty evaluations, medical boards)
  • Ability to communicate skills to other health professionals and paraprofessionals as needed
  • Experience with outpatient clinic care, care coordination, and patient panels
  • Knowledgeable about medical malpractice/liability protections under the Federal Tort Claims Act when acting within the scope of federal employment
  • US citizenship is required for the role (as stated)
