Job Summary
Provide direct patient care in a telemedicine clinical setting, focusing on evidence-based treatment for obesity and comprehensive diabetes management, including insulin titration and care of patients using CGMs or insulin pumps. Review charts for APP patients every third visit to ensure quality continuity of care for complex co-morbidities like CKD, ESRD, and cardiovascular conditions. Conduct weekly collaborative meetings and asynchronous communication with Endocrine-Specialized APPs to review cases, address clinical challenges, and provide mentorship. This Modified FTE role (32–36 hours/week) includes a rotating after-hours call schedule with reduced clinical hours during coverage weeks. You will prescribe non-controlled medications for obesity and diabetes, assist in professional development of colleagues, and contribute to quality improvement initiatives within the diabetes and obesity medicine program.
Required Qualifications
- Board certification in Endocrinology by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM)
- Active and unrestricted Medical State License in any US State
- LOQ (Letter of Qualification) with the IMLC (Interstate Medical Licensure Compact) if living in an IMLC eligible state
- Minimum of 5 years as an attending physician in endocrinology
- Demonstrated competency and comfort in managing patients with complex co-morbidities, including CKD, ESRD, and CAD/CV conditions
- Expertise in advanced diabetes management, including the use of CGMs, insulin pumps, and complex insulin regimens
- Demonstrated experience working with APPs, medical residents, or trainees in a clinical academic setting
Desired Qualifications
- Certification by the American Board of Obesity Medicine (ABOM)
- demonstrated extensive clinical experience (minimum 3 years) in obesity medicine and pharmacotherapy (older generation oral and newer injectable medications)
- Strong interest in mentoring, teaching, and collaborating with Endocrine-Specialized APPs and Registered Dietitians specializing in diabetes
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Adherence to evidence-based treatments, behavioral interventions, nutrition, and pharmacotherapy for both endocrine disorders and obesity
- Committed to delivering patient-centered, culturally competent care
- Bilingual candidates with medical fluency in Spanish
