Job Summary
Conduct inpatient and outpatient urology care by assessing patients, performing physical exams, writing orders, and documenting daily notes. Order and interpret laboratory tests and radiological examinations, recognizing patients requiring immediate surgical attention and initiating emergency treatments without supervision. Assist in surgical procedures in emergency, clinic, and operating room settings while performing minor diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. Coordinate discharge planning, arrange sub-specialty follow-up, and manage outpatient medications and therapy referrals. Present cases with recommendations to supervising physicians and document services for hospital billing. Maintain medical records and participate in continuing medical education to uphold professional standards.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- Successful completion of a PA program accredited by the Committee on Allied Health, Education Accreditation of the American Medical Association (CAHEA)
- Successful completion of a PA program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP)
- Successful completion of a PA program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on the Education of the PA (ARC-PA)
- Experience in direct patient management
- Experience in the surgical or medical subspecialty of the department one is hired into
- Surgical assisting experience
- Knowledge of acute and chronic disease states
- Knowledge of administration and prescription of medications
- Knowledge of delivering physical care following treatment plan
- Current applicable state licensure to practice as a Physician Assistant
- Ability to obtain licensure upon date of hire
- Current BLS for Providers from the American Heart Association
- Ability to submit information necessary to complete a National Practitioner Data Base search and meet Legacy's standards for results
