Job Summary

Utilize the approved medical practices process to deliver patient care based on physical, psycho-social, educational, and safety criteria. Provide primary and urgent medical management, including emergency stabilization of critically ill patients, while teaching residents and medical students. Adapt communication styles to diverse patient populations and deliver education to families, staff, and the community. Maintain knowledge of federal, state, and local laws to ensure compliance with accreditation standards and regulatory requirements. Work in a collaborative model under the supervision of the Medical Director with residents, fellows, attendings, and staff nurses.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Physician Assistant medicine or Health Sciences
  • graduate of an approved Physician Assistant Training Program
  • License as a Physician Assistant in the state of practice
  • NCCPA Certified
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) / Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Certification from the American Heart Association
  • Eligible for Prescriptive Authority in the state of practice as outlined by the State Board of Medical Examiners
  • Computer skills and dexterity for data entry and retrieval of required job information
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally
  • Proficient with Windows-style applications, various software packages specific to role and keyboard
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Working knowledge of Advanced Practice Provider policies and protocols at a department and campus/system level
  • Ability to have reliable transportation
  • Must be able to travel throughout and between facilities
  • Ability to work a flexible work schedule (e.g. 24/7, weekend, holiday, on call availability)
