Job Summary
Physician Assistant needed for Northwestern Medicine Thoracic Surgery with a mix of clinic visits, operating room assistance, and hospital rounds. Part-time schedule (Monday–Friday) with no holiday coverage; potential occasional late finishes and occasional weekend coverage based on surgical volume. Responsibilities include comprehensive patient assessments, direct clinical care, prescribing therapies and ordering tests, teaching patients and families, participating in quality improvement or research, mentoring students, and acting as a patient advocate within a collaborative surgical team. Required qualifications include a Master’s degree (nursing APRN or PA program), acute care certification for APRNs, First Assist Certification, IL RN and APRN licensure with appropriate certification, and MSO credentialing; CPR/BLS certification; commitment to professional practice and continuous education. Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree from an accredited school/college of nursing OR master’s degree from an accredited Physician Assistant Program
- Acute care certification required for APRNs (inpatient experience as an NP will be considered in lieu of acute care certification)
- First Assist Certification for all APRNs
- Current RN license in Illinois AND current APRN license in Illinois AND national APRN certification approved by the Illinois Department of Regulation APRN Board
- Privileged and credentialed through the Northwestern Medicine MSO
- BLS certification from the American Heart Association
