Job Summary
Staff the Adventist Health Portland Emergency Department as assigned by the Chair, participating in education of medical, paramedic, and nursing students alongside interdisciplinary quality assurance activities. Manage heavy workloads with multiple priorities while collaborating with hospitalists to coordinate patient care for over 50,000 annual visits, including active stroke and cardiac programs. Maintain current ACLS certification and an unlimited Oregon MD license, completing credentialing with OHSU's Professional Board prior to start. This role supports OHSU's mission as Oregon's only public academic health center, offering teaching opportunities within a system of hospitals and clinics across Oregon and Southwest Washington.
Required Qualifications
- MD or equivalent
- Emergency Medicine Residency Certificate
- Knowledge, training and experience in clinical and academic Emergency Medicine
- Demonstrated ability to satisfy standards of performance delineated by law
- Ability to manage heavy workload with multiple priorities and inflexible deadlines
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
- Proficient in the use of computing hardware and software, including personal computing equipment, electronic medical record, word processing and spreadsheet software
- Regular and consistent attendance at work
- Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification
- ABEM or ABOEM Board certified or board eligible
- current unlimited Oregon MD (or equivalent) license
- credentialing process and be approved by the OHSU Professional Board to practice as an independent practitioner in an acute care/emergency setting
- registered with Federal Drug Enforcement Administration
- authorized to prescribe medications
