Job Summary

Provide primary and specialty medical care in a DoD clinical environment, including patient evaluations, physical examinations, diagnostic planning, treatment implementation, and emergency stabilization. Manage the health and wellness of assigned patients as a primary care manager, formulate differential diagnostic plans, order diagnostic testing, and interpret results to implement treatment regimens. Perform urological procedures, digital blocks, and local infiltration, while recognizing complicated cases to refer to higher-level expertise. Stabilize emergency patients, determine evacuation means, and coordinate referrals and consultations with other specialists. Document medical records accurately and report public health significance cases.

Required Qualifications

  • current unrestricted Physician Assistant licensure
  • NCCPA certification
  • eligibility to work under a personal services arrangement
  • recent Physician Assistant experience
  • strong clinical judgment
  • effective communication skills
  • commitment to supporting mission readiness and high-quality care for service members and eligible patient populations
  • Graduate of a Physician Assistant Training Program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA), or its predecessors, and acceptable to the Surgeon General, USAF
  • Minimum of two (2) years of physician assistant experience within the past three (3) years
  • U.S. Citizen
  • A current, valid, unrestricted license to practice as a Physician Assistant in any one of the fifty States, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Guam or the U.S. Virgin Islands
  • Certification as a Physician Assistant by the National Committee on Certification Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross
  • Certification cards must display the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross
  • Web-based (on-line) classes are not acceptable by the Government

Desired Qualifications

  • Previous experience working in a Department of Defense (DoD) or Military Treatment Facility (MTF) environment
  • Experience in occupational medicine, primary care, or ambulatory care settings
  • Familiarity with electronic medical record systems and military healthcare operations
