Physician Assistant (PA)

Job Summary

Provide critical care services including assessing, diagnosing, prescribing, treating, and educating patients while conducting physical exams, interpreting tests, and performing procedures like injections and suturing. Collaborate with physicians and clinicians in a team approach to manage cases, triage patient calls, and monitor therapies for continuity of care. Maintain accurate medical records, counsel patients on preventive health, and refer complex cases to physicians as needed. This practice focuses on Orthopedic Spine, Pain management, and Neurosurgery. Schedule is Monday through Friday, 10-6pm, with locations in Secaucus and Clifton, NJ. Hudson Regional Health is a newly unified network delivering modern, patient-first care supported by innovation across four hospitals.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Successful completion of accredited physician assistant program
  • Four years of health care experience prior to applying to PA program
  • One year of experience as PA
  • National certification from the National Commission on Certification of PAs
  • State PA license
  • Current CPR certificate
  • Knowledge of medical model and roles of physicians and physician assistants
  • Familiarity with anatomy
  • Familiarity with pharmacology
  • Familiarity with pathophysiology
  • Familiarity with clinical medicine
  • Familiarity with physical diagnosis
  • Knowledge of patient assessment techniques including taking medical histories
  • Knowledge of performing physicals
  • Knowledge of evaluating health status including state of wellness
  • Knowledge of compliance with care recommendations
  • Knowledge of diagnosing and treating medical problems
  • Knowledge of developing care plans
  • Knowledge of documentation in medical records in confidential manner
  • Skill in gathering and analyzing physiological, socioeconomic, and emotional patient data
  • Skill in accurately evaluating patient problems in person or via phone and providing appropriate advice, intervention, or referral
  • Skill in developing/revising patient care plan based on patient status
  • Ability to make responsible decisions within scope of PA practice
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with physicians on complicated cases
  • Ability to educate patients, families, and staff in user-friendly manner
  • Ability to demonstrate eye–hand coordination, full range of motion, and manual dexterity

Desired Qualifications

  • One year of experience as PA, preferably in clinic setting
