Job Summary

Examine, diagnose, and treat patients of all ages for immediate health care needs, including fracture/dislocation reductions, laceration repair, and joint injections. Order and interpret diagnostic tests, instruct patients on treatment plans, and consult with physicians when warranted. Manage medical charts and administrative paperwork while adhering to governing body privileges and delegated Medical Director guidelines. Provide support to medical and office staff, respond effectively to emergencies, and travel between facilities as indicated. Requires weekend and early evening shifts in a 361-day-a-year urgent care setting. Candidates must hold an active state medical license, DEA license, and experience with sports injuries, sprains, cuts, and work-related injuries.

Required Qualifications

  • Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner
  • Licensure to see all age ranges
  • Active/current state medical license
  • Eligible for a VA Medical License
  • DEA License
  • Board Certified/Eligible
  • 2+ years of orthopedic experience or practice in Emergency/Urgent Care clinical/hospital setting
  • Physical health to meet the ergonomic standards and demands of the position
  • Ability to assess situations, resolve within scope of ability, or escalate as appropriate
  • Ability to respond effectively to emergencies, actual events, or drills
  • Ability to follow instructions and make decisions with little supervision
  • Ability to maintain professional demeanor in all aspects of role
  • Travels between facilities when indicated
  • Strong customer service skills and excellent communication skills
  • Experience with Sports injuries
  • Experience with Sprains & strains
  • Experience with Slips, trips, falls
  • Experience with Hand & wrist injuries
  • Experience with Foot & ankle injuries
  • Experience with Knee/shoulder injuries
  • Experience with Cuts & lacerations
  • Experience with Back & neck injuries
  • Experience with Broken bones
  • Experience with Sports physicals (NOVA & RIC)
  • Experience with Work-related injuries
  • Must be available for weekend and early evening shifts
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs

Desired Qualifications

  • Prefer 2+ years of orthopedic experience or practice in Emergency/Urgent Care clinical/hospital setting
