Physician Assistant (Orthopedic)

Physician Assistant in Orthopedic surgery will function as first assistant in the operating room, performing surgical exposure, surgical dissections, layer closure of wounds, harvesting of autologous graft materials, application of immobilization devices and splints; assist with use of monitoring devices and radiographic equipment; write post-op notes and orders; participate in evaluation and longitudinal care of outpatients; obtain medical history and perform physical examination; develop and implement plans of care with attending supervision; complete documentation of evaluations, care, and services; refer for consultations; provide pre- and post-operative education to patients and families; respond to patient inquiries with appropriate medical care or referrals; communicate with referring physicians regarding patient care; provide follow-up and health maintenance care including medication adjustments per Attending Physician; prescribe medications within delegated authority; participate in inpatient rounds and Ortho Urgent Care; assist with game coverage and sports events; maintain credentialing and licensing; uphold confidentiality and work within organizational bylaws; travel between clinic locations (Oak Lawn and Orland Park) and surgery centers/hospitals as needed.
