Job Summary
Check daily schedules, organize patient flow, and assist physicians with surgical procedures, post-surgical care, and rounds on admitted patients. Interview patients to gather medical histories, measure vital signs, and document all information in charts. Perform triage, process messages, refill medication requests, and ensure pre-op consent forms are completed and signed. Coordinate imaging studies for surgery and manage disability paperwork. Cover weekend and evening calls as needed while maintaining patient rights and responding to emergency codes.
Required Qualifications
- Knowledge of surgical and medical office procedures
- Knowledge of computer systems and applications
- Knowledge of grammar, spelling and punctuation to type patient information
- Skill in operating business office machines
- Skills in answering the telephone in a pleasant and helpful manner
- Ability to speak clearly and concisely
- Ability to read, understand and follow oral and written instruction
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, employees and the public
- Possibility of local travel
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus
- Must be able to work early, late and long hours, as needed, to meet the essential functions of the job
