Physician Assistant - Orthopaedic Sports Medicine

Job Summary

Evaluate patients, order diagnostic studies, and treat orthopaedic conditions involving the shoulder, elbow, and knee. Provide preoperative education, perform office-based procedures like injections, and assist in surgery as assigned. Manage postoperative follow-up, coordinate referrals, and maintain accurate electronic medical record documentation. Participate in call coverage and respond to urgent patient concerns. Requires current Virginia PA license, NCCPA certification, and CPR/BLS certification. Two years of clinical experience preferred; new graduates welcome. Located in Anderson Orthopaedic Clinic, Virginia.

Required Qualifications

  • Successful completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program
  • Current or eligible Virginia Physician Assistant license
  • Current NCCPA certification
  • Current CPR/BLS certification
  • Willingness and ability to participate in call coverage
  • Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic, and medical decision-making skills
  • Ability to function with appropriate autonomy while recognizing when physician consultation is needed
  • Ability to manage a busy workload and prioritize competing clinical needs
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to explain complex medical information to patients and families clearly and compassionately
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a fast-paced, team-based practice
  • Proficiency with electronic medical records and standard office technology
  • Commitment to providing an exceptional patient experience
  • The Physician Assistant must be able to stand, sit, walk, bend, stoop, twist, and perform clinical procedures requiring manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination
  • The position may occasionally require assisting with patient transfers, working irregular hours, and responding to time-sensitive clinical needs

Desired Qualifications

  • Two years of clinical Physician Assistant experience preferred; qualified new graduates are welcome to apply
  • Orthopaedic, sports medicine, or surgical experience is preferred but not required
  • Interest in orthopaedics, sports medicine, and surgical patient care
