Job Summary
Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to provide primary health care services at Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NDCS) in Lincoln. The role involves joining a team of physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners and other health care professionals to deliver inmate health care. Starting wages: Physician Assistant $57.551/hour; Nurse Practitioner $59.099/hour. Key responsibilities include clinical assessments, differential diagnosis, basic CPR, minor surgery, proctoscopy, treatment of non-displaced fractures, documentation of observations and diagnosis, and effective communication with patients, families, and staff. Pre-employment requirements include medical exam and random drug testing; completion of the NE Corrections Training Program after intake; and possession of a valid Nebraska license as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner as applicable. CPR/ACLS certification preferred (required within one year of hire). Must possess a valid Nebraska driver’s license. Required Qualifications
- Physician Assistant: Graduation from an American Medical Association approved Physician Assistant program or have passed the National Commission Certification examination
- Nurse Practitioner: Successful completion of an accredited program for Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner; current RN license and NP certification in Nebraska
