Job Summary
Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to support Northwestern Medicine's Behavioral Health/Psychiatry addictions and behavioral health team. Responsibilities include managing an addictions continuum of care with residential, PHP, IOP, and ambulatory clinic visits, plus limited inpatient coverage. Role involves patient intake assessments, collaborating with physicians and health professionals, teaching patients and families, mentoring graduates, and participating in quality improvement or research. Schedule is Monday-Friday with first shift hours, predominantly in-person care with remote visits as clinically appropriate, and rotating weekend call. Requires applying advanced clinical knowledge to diagnose and manage diverse health problems, maintaining licensure/certification, and contributing to education and program development.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree from an accredited school/college of nursing OR master's degree from an accredited Physician Assistant Program
- Current license as a Registered Nurse in the State of Illinois
- Current license as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in the State of Illinois OR Master’s degree from an accredited Physician Assistant Program/Current license as a Physician Assistant in the State of Illinois
- Licensed Physician Assistant, Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, Adult–Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner, or Family Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) certification required to be considered
- APRNs must be privileged and credentialed through the Medical Staff Office (MSO)
- Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS) certification
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Controlled substance license and DEA registration
