Job Summary
One-year APP fellowship in Critical Care at Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital for Acute Care NP or PA. The program delivers a yearlong, multidisciplinary training to prepare clinicians to assume inpatient critical care responsibilities. Core experiences include admissions and acute issues in the ICU, cross-coverage for pulmonary services, and a range of rotations (Emergency Medicine, Hospital Medicine, Infectious Disease, Cardiology, Neurology/Neurosurgery, Anesthesiology & IR) with extensive procedural exposure (arterial line placement, central venous catheters, ultrasound, intubation, chest tube management, pleural procedures, sedation, and ventilator management). Responsibilities include completing credentialing and privileging, providing direct patient care under clinical preceptors, collaborating with physicians and the health-care team, managing patient caseloads, and developing professional skills and knowledge. The role emphasizes supervised learning, didactic lectures, mentoring, and participation in APP activities and rounds. Qualifications require a Master’s degree (nursing or PA), acute care certification for APRNs (inpatient experience considered), Illinois RN and APRN licenses, and BLS. Schedule is primarily day shift with some nights and weekends during the year; no on-call duties. Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree from an accredited school/college of nursing OR master's degree from an accredited Physician Assistant Program
- Acute care certification required for APRNs (inpatient experience as an NP will be considered in lieu of acute care certification)
- Current license as a Registered Nurse in the State of Illinois
- Current license as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in the State of Illinois
- Certification as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse by a national certifying body as approved by the Illinois Department of Regulation APRN Board
- Privileged and credentialed through the Northwestern Medicine Medical Staff Office (MSO)
- BLS issuance by the American Heart Association
- One year credentialing/privileging process at Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital (NLFH)
