Physician Assistant or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (APP) Fellowship - Critical Care Fellowship, Full-Time, Days

One-year APP fellowship in Critical Care at Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital for Acute Care NP or PA. The program delivers a yearlong, multidisciplinary training to prepare clinicians to assume inpatient critical care responsibilities. Core experiences include admissions and acute issues in the ICU, cross-coverage for pulmonary services, and a range of rotations (Emergency Medicine, Hospital Medicine, Infectious Disease, Cardiology, Neurology/Neurosurgery, Anesthesiology & IR) with extensive procedural exposure (arterial line placement, central venous catheters, ultrasound, intubation, chest tube management, pleural procedures, sedation, and ventilator management). Responsibilities include completing credentialing and privileging, providing direct patient care under clinical preceptors, collaborating with physicians and the health-care team, managing patient caseloads, and developing professional skills and knowledge. The role emphasizes supervised learning, didactic lectures, mentoring, and participation in APP activities and rounds. Qualifications require a Master’s degree (nursing or PA), acute care certification for APRNs (inpatient experience considered), Illinois RN and APRN licenses, and BLS. Schedule is primarily day shift with some nights and weekends during the year; no on-call duties.
