Job Summary
Physician Assistant position in ophthalmology at UPMC Vision Institute. You will provide high-quality patient care across inpatient rounding and outpatient clinics within a fast-paced ophthalmology team, collaborating with physicians and interdisciplinary staff. The role includes independent clinical judgment with physician collaboration, developing individualized plans of care to support patient safety and outcomes, and active participation in quality improvement and professional development. A 6-month comprehensive ophthalmology clinical training with rotations in subspecialties and mentorship is included. The team supports APPs with career progression, CME, and pathways for growth. Requirements include graduation from an ARC-PA–accredited PA program, PA licensure in Pennsylvania, NCCPA certification, CPR, and clinical certifications (ACLS/NALS/PALS/ITLS) within 30 days of hire. Minimum of 3 years APP experience or completion of a post-graduate residency is required for Senior level consideration. The role is based in Pittsburgh, PA with some travel to additional sites; schedule is full-time with four 10-hour shifts per week, primarily daylight with occasional evenings and one weekend per month. Required Qualifications
- Graduation from an ARC-PA–accredited Physician Assistant program
- Current Pennsylvania PA license and NCCPA certification
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree preferred
- Current CPR certification
- Act 33, Act 34, Act 73 clearances (Pennsylvania)
- ACLS, ITLS, NALS, PALS, or approved advanced certification within 30 days of hire
- Successful attainment and maintenance of hospital privileges, if applicable to the Business Unit practice
