Job Summary

The Physician Assistant Nocturnist will work with the University of Maryland Faculty Practice's hospitalist program, providing medical care for general internal medicine, transplant patients, and medical consultations. Responsibilities include conducting pre- and post-operative patient visits, rounding on inpatients to monitor progress, writing progress notes, ordering laboratory tests, and reviewing patient health records. The role requires collaboration with other medical professionals and may involve educating Physician Assistant students. Candidates must be certified and licensed as a Physician's Assistant and possess relevant certifications.

Required Qualifications

  • Graduation from a Physician Assistant Training Program approved by the Board of Physician Quality Assurance
  • National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) certification
  • Licensure by Maryland State Board of Physicians as a Physician’s Assistant
  • CPR certification
  • BLS certification
  • ACLS and/or other relevant certifications as required

  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served
  • Knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span
  • Ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s requirements
