Job Summary
Conduct comprehensive patient evaluations, including medical history reviews, physical examinations, and diagnostic test interpretation. Serve as First Assist in Orthopedic and Spine surgical procedures, ensuring strict adherence to sterile techniques and safety protocols. Provide complete preoperative and postoperative care, manage tailored patient care plans, and round on postoperative patients. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to monitor progress, address complications, and educate patients and families on treatment options and postoperative instructions. Accurately document all encounters within the electronic medical record system. Requires current New Jersey licensure, PA-C certification, and experience in Orthopedic or Spine surgery. Rotating 12-hour shifts with weekend and holiday on-call coverage within the Hudson County Hospital Network.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program
- Current, unrestricted license to practice as a Physician Assistant (or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse) in the State of New Jersey
- Active certification as a Physician Assistant (PA-C)
- Prior experience in Orthopedic and Spine surgery or a closely related surgical field
- Strong clinical and critical thinking capabilities
- Ability to work autonomously
- Ability to seamlessly work within a collaborative team environment
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to effectively and empathetically interact with patients, families, and fellow healthcare professionals
- Rotating 12-hour shifts (Monday–Saturday)
- On-call coverage for weekends and holidays
- Ability to work within the Hudson county Hospital Network
