Job Summary

Physician Assistant providing care in special needs shelters during disaster response. Responsibilities include conducting initial health assessments to identify medical needs, managing chronic and acute conditions, providing immediate care and administering medications, performing minor procedures, and collaborating with physicians to ensure appropriate treatment plans. Work with shelter staff, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to develop comprehensive care plans, educate residents and caregivers, monitor chronic conditions, document medical care and health records, and advocate for the healthcare needs of individuals with disabilities. Participate in emergency preparedness and disaster response training and ensure compliance with Joint Commission Healthcare Staffing Services or other regulatory requirements. Requires ability to respond within 24 hours and be onsite through the operation, with 12-hour shifts and travel to Sarasota as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in health sciences, biology, or psychology
  • Master's degree from an accredited PA program
  • Pass the Physician Assistant National Certifying Exam (PANCE) to practice
  • ARC-PA accreditation of PA program
  • Current, full and unrestricted license as a Physician Assistant in the state of Florida
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and ACLS certifications
  • Current and valid driver's license
  • DEA License
