Job Summary
Evaluate and manage patients with chronic and acute rheumatologic conditions, including osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, and fibromyalgia, through clinical assessments, diagnostic interpretation, and medication management. Perform patient histories and physical examinations, order and review laboratory tests and radiographs, and coordinate internal and external services such as ultrasound and physical therapy. Prescribe medications, conduct office-based procedures, and provide consultation services for infusion therapy while maintaining accurate electronic medical records. Respond to clinical tasks from patients and staff in a timely manner under the supervision of a supervising ARA physician. Full-time position in Chevy Chase, MD.
Required Qualifications
- Successful completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program
- Current licensure as a Physician Assistant in the applicable state
- Current approval by the Board of Medicine to perform medical acts
- Commitment to ongoing continuing education, including rheumatology-specific learning
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal and patient engagement skills
- Solid diagnostic, analytical, and problem-solving abilities
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment
- Ability to work collaboratively with physicians, clinical staff, and interdisciplinary teams
- Adequate hearing and vision to perform clinical assessments and documentation
- Must be able to push, pull, and lift up to 100 pounds to assist with patient mobility
- Weekend or after-hours on-call responsibilities may be required on a limited basis
