Job Summary

Provide health care services to patients under the direction of attending physicians and the Clinical Director of the Department of Surgery. While providing surgical assistance, follow the direction of the attending surgeon having responsibility for the surgical case. Work closely with surgeons, residents, and other healthcare professionals to support the surgical team. Requires a graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program, NCCPA certification, and minimum 2 years of licensed experience in general surgery. Valid and unrestricted license to practice in Maryland is required. The role involves inpatient rounding responsibilities within the General Surgery team at Johns Hopkins Suburban Hospital.

Required Qualifications

  • Successful completion of a training program, accredited by the American Medical Association for Physician Assistants
  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program
  • Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
  • Valid and unrestricted license to practice as a Physician Assistant in the state of Maryland
  • Minimum of 2 years licensed Physician Assistant experience in general surgery or a related field
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment
  • Commitment to providing compassionate, patient-centered care
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems and proficiency in using healthcare technology
  • Authorization to work in the United States (no sponsorship required)

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred
  • Previous experience in an academic medical center or teaching hospital
