Job Summary
Provides medical care to patients within this scope of practice under supervision of the Most Responsible Physician, including data gathering, interviewing patients/caregivers, conducting physical examinations, ordering medical investigations, and patient treatment. Participates in departmental and hospital-wide activities to promote a safe, patient-centered environment and supports quality improvement and risk management initiatives. Requires collaboration with an interdisciplinary team, leadership in decision-making, and a commitment to professional growth. Must possess graduate credentials as a Physician Assistant, Canadian certification, and BCLS/ACLS certifications.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of the McMaster or Consortium Physician Assistant Program
- Graduate from an accredited education program for physician assistants and certified as a Physician Assistant by the Canadian Academy of Physician Assistants
- Successful completion of the Canadian Physician Assistant certification exam
- BCLS
- ACLS
- Experience with shared decision-making and leadership techniques
- Demonstrated expertise in decision-making and evidence-based practice
- Effective problem solving skills
- Demonstrated commitment to professional growth and development
- Excellent oral and written communication
- Demonstrated critical thinking skills
- Demonstrated ability to work in in a collaborative practice model with an interdisciplinary team
- Demonstrated change management skills
- Demonstrated skills in adult physical and mental health assessment
- Good attendance and availability
