Job Summary
Physician Assistant in the Hospitalist department provides medical care under supervision of the Most Responsible Physician, including data gathering, patient interviews, physical examinations, ordering investigations, and patient treatment. Participates in departmental and hospital-wide activities to promote a safe, patient-centered environment and contribute to quality improvement and risk management. Requires graduation from a recognized PA program, certification as a Physician Assistant, and certification exams (Canadian PA certif., BCLS, ACLS). Emphasizes collaboration with interdisciplinary teams, shared decision-making, leadership, and ongoing professional development. Location: Brockville General Hospital, Brockville, ON; temporary full-time position (up to 12 months with possible extension).
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of the McMaster or Consortium Physician Assistant Program
- Graduate from an accredited education program for physician assistants and certified as a Physician Assistant by the Canadian Academy of Physician Assistants
- Successful completion of the Canadian Physician Assistant certification exam
- BCLS
- ACLS
- Experience with shared decision-making and leadership techniques
- Demonstrated expertise in decision-making and evidence-based practice (Choosing Wisely)
- Effective problem solving skills
- Demonstrated commitment to professional growth and development
- Excellent oral and written communication
- Demonstrated critical thinking skills
- Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative practice model with an interdisciplinary team
