Physician Assistant, General Surgery Clinic (Per Diem)

Job Summary
Provide clinical support to the Department of General Surgery by treating outpatient patients, performing inpatient consultations, and assisting in the operating room. Order and interpret laboratory and diagnostic tests while diagnosing and managing children and adults with surgical disorders. Conduct minor procedures such as suture removal, wound care, and incision and drainage of abscesses. Assist with phone triage and document patient assessments, histories, and care plans. Initiate and adjust patient monitors and therapeutic equipment as directed. Work per diem, ideally 10 hours per week, Monday through Friday, with potential monthly travel to the Waltham location.
Required Qualifications
- A Master's degree from a PA program
- One year of PA experience preferred
- The ability to work in collaboration with physicians, nurses, mid-level providers and ambulatory staff is essential
- Analytical skills to resolve highly complex problems requiring the application of clinical, scientific or technical principles, theories and concepts and in-depth, cross-functional experience-based knowledge
- Communication skills to effectively deal with conflicting views or issues and mediate fair solutions and well-developed writing skills
- A current Massachusetts PA license
