Job Summary
Physician Assistant in a family medicine outpatient clinic provides care under a collaborating physician. Role involves taking detailed histories and performing physical examinations, ordering imaging and lab tests, interpreting results, instructing patients on therapies and pre/post operative instructions, maintaining records, writing progress notes, following patients through treatment, collaborating with the health-care team to achieve optimal outcomes, prescribing pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic therapies, and promoting wellness. Responsibilities include promoting evidence-based practice, contributing to standards of practice, assessing learning needs of patients and families, and delivering comprehensive health assessments and differential diagnoses in the ambulatory setting while working autonomously within an interdisciplinary team.
Required Qualifications
- Licensed Physician Assistant (PA) in IL
- Federal DEA license and Illinois Controlled Substance License required
- BLS/CPR certification required
- Master’s level education preferred (degree in PA program)
- Experience in outpatient setting preferred
