Job Summary
Provide comprehensive medical care for inpatient and outpatient populations by evaluating treatment plans, prescribing medications including controlled substances, and performing delegated clinical duties. Coordinate clinical research studies, monitor cost effectiveness, and develop interdisciplinary therapeutic plans while serving as a clinical resource for peer education. Facilitate patient throughput during admissions and discharges, ensure continuity of care across settings, and maintain board certification and annual CME requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Physician Assistant Bachelor's Degree (BA-PA)
- Current New York State Physician Assistant license
- NCCPA Board Certification
- Basic Life Support Certification through the American Heart Association
- Physician Assistant Board Certification
- Annual CME requirement for re-appointment and privileging
- Current expertise in area of practice
- DEA authorization
- Knowledge of New York State law regarding controlled substances
- Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization
Desired Qualifications
- Previous experience as a physician assistant
- Physician assistant fellowship experience
- At least 2 years of clinical rotation in various medical, surgical and other specialty areas
- Membership in professional specialty organizations
- Previously demonstrated ability to facilitate group processes and work cohesively and collaboratively as member of the interdisciplinary team
- Evidence of excellent interpersonal skills
- Effective communication skills
- Creative problem solving
- Excellent critical thinking skills
- Advanced Life Support certification (ACLS, PALS) through the American Heart Association
- Neonatal Resuscitation certification (NRP) through the Academy of Pediatrics
