Job Summary
Physician Assistant (PA) to provide diagnostic, therapeutic, surgical and preventative care under physician supervision. Responsibilities include exams, diagnoses, treatment decisions, writing prescriptions, taking histories, providing surgical assistance, and coordinating care in inpatient and outpatient settings. Requires certification and licensure in Texas (NCCPA/PA-C) with ACLS/BLS, and DEA license within 6 months. Roles emphasize autonomous clinical judgment, collaboration with physicians and interprofessional teams, leadership in clinical resources, and ongoing patient safety and quality improvement within Houston Methodist.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- Graduate from accredited Physician Assistant program by NCCPA
- One year of clinical experience
- PA - Physician Assistant - State Licensure - Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation_PSV by the Texas Board of Physician Assistants
- PA-C - Physician Assistant-Certified (NCCPA)
- BLS - Basic Life Support or Instructor (AHA)
- ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support or Instructor (AHA)
- DEA - Narcotics License (DEA) - Drug Enforcement Administration_PSV within 6 months
