Job Summary
Physician Assistant (Critical Care) provides clinical care for critically ill adult patients in the ICU, collaborating with physicians, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals. Responsibilities include evaluating and treating acute illnesses and injuries, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, prescribing pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatments, and performing invasive procedures per established protocols and evidence-based standards. Participates in admissions and offers expert education, consultation, and patient advocacy to optimize outcomes. Three 12-hour shifts per week. OSF HealthCare is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
Required Qualifications
- Licensed to provide Physician Assistant services in the State of Illinois as issued by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation
- Licensed by the Federal Drug Enforcement Administration and State of Illinois for prescribing narcotics
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications
- Certification as an Acute Care Physician Assistant(ACPA)
- 2+ years of critical care patient management experience
