Job Summary
Conduct preoperative assessments, obtain informed consent, facilitate IV access and blood draws, and prepare patients for same-day surgery within the Anesthesiology, Periop Care, and Pain Medicine department. Perform postoperative anesthesia follow-up assessments and assist with PACU care as needed. Evaluate treatment plans for effectiveness, prescribe medications and therapies per protocol, and coordinate implementation of clinical research studies including patient screening and enrollment. Monitor cost effectiveness, develop interdisciplinary therapeutic plans, and facilitate patient throughput during admission and discharge. Provide consultation to nursing staff and ensure continuity of care across the continuum of services. Maintain board certification and annual CME requirements while serving as a clinical resource for peer education.
Required Qualifications
- Physician Assistant Bachelor's Degree (BA-PA)
- Current New York State Physician Assistant License
- NCCPA Board Certification
- Basic Life Support Certification through the American Heart Association
- Physician Assistant Lic-NYS
- Ntl Com Cert Physician Asst
- Basic Life Support Cert
- Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization
Desired Qualifications
- Previous experience as a physician assistant or physician assistant fellowship experience
- At least 2 years of clinical rotation in various medical, surgical and other specialty areas
- Membership in professional specialty organizations
- Advanced Life Support certification (ACLS, PALS) through the American Heart Association
- Neonatal Resuscitation certification (NRP) through the American Academy of Pediatrics
