Job Summary
Lead physician-driven clinical resource utilization program at MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center. Review cases to determine appropriate level of care based on medical necessity and regulatory guidelines; provide guidance on medical necessity, level of care, and clinical documentation; foster effective communication among care teams; establish and maintain peer-to-peer protocol; contribute to hospital leadership efforts and program growth within a Major MercyOne system. On-site role in Des Moines, IA with exposure to inpatient workflows, regulatory considerations, and multidisciplinary collaboration.
Required Qualifications
- Board-certified physician (MD or DO)
- Inpatient experience
- Strong knowledge of CMS and commercial insurance regulations
- Experience serving on hospital committees
- Leadership and team-building skills
- Collaborative decision-making abilities
- Familiarity with medical necessity, level of care, and clinical documentation
