Job Summary

Conduct comprehensive patient evaluations, develop individualized treatment plans, and prescribe Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) via telehealth for individuals with substance use disorders. Provide high-quality, direct clinical care within our innovative, 100% remote Addiction Medicine program, focusing on evidence-based, patient-centered, and non-judgmental treatment for underserved populations. This on-call position operates Monday to Friday between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM, requiring applicants to reside in Hawaii. Join the clinical team of the University Health Partners of Hawaii, the Faculty Practice of the John A. Burns School of Medicine, to expand access to no-cost addiction medicine treatment across the State.

Required Qualifications

  • Appllicants must reside in Hawaii
  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited medical school
  • Current, unrestricted medical license to practice in the State of Hawaii
  • DEA registration and Hawaii NED license
  • Monday to Friday, between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM
  • Minimum of 1 year of clinical experience in addiction medicine, psychiatry, or a related field, with experience in telehealth
  • Demonstrated knowledge of evidence-based practices in addiction treatment, including pharmacotherapy and behavioral interventions
  • Strong assessment, diagnostic, and therapeutic skills in the area of addiction and mental health
  • Proficiency in using electronic health records (EHR) systems and telehealth video software, and other digital health tools
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills
  • Ability to work autonomously and manage a diverse patient caseload in a remote setting
  • Strong commitment to patient-centered care, cultural competency, and reducing health disparities
  • A dedicated team player who communicates clearly and respectfully with all members of the care team
  • Understanding of HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality

Desired Qualifications

  • Board Certification or Eligibility in Psychiatry, Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Addiction Medicine
