Job Summary
The Physical Therapy Assistant administers therapeutic techniques and interventions to improve, maintain, or restore function for patients in outpatient settings. Responsibilities include assisting the supervising Physical Therapist in evaluating treatment effectiveness, implementing interventions focused on posture, balance, locomotion, strength, endurance, flexibility, coordination, injury/pain management, and daily functional activities; ensuring treatment methods align with current physical therapy practices; monitoring patient progress; providing patient education on exercises and self-management; tailoring approaches to age and cultural background; maintaining accurate documentation; collaborating with an interdisciplinary team and participating in discharge planning; upholding infection control and safety protocols; and performing duties under supervision while maintaining regular attendance.
Required Qualifications
- 0-1 years of experience in a physical therapy setting
- PTA license in state of employment
- BCLS - Basic Life Support
- Licensure as PTA in state of employment
- Strong knowledge of therapeutic techniques, modalities, and interventions used in physical therapy
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to document accurately and maintain patient confidentiality
