Job Summary
The Physical Therapy Assistant delivers skilled physical therapy services under a licensed Physical Therapist for hospice patients, guiding patients through active and passive therapeutic exercises, gait and mobility training, and prosthetic/orthotic device care. It includes using therapeutic modalities (heat, cold, ultrasound, electrical stimulation, massage) per state guidelines, documenting progress, collaborating with the hospice care team, attending IDG/meetings, and supporting high-quality patient care. The role emphasizes patient comfort, function, and quality of life, with emphasis on documentation, communication, and ongoing professional development.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program with an associate degree in science or applied science (approved by APTA).
- Meets hospice personnel qualifications per §418.114(b)(8).
- Current PTA certification or licensure as required by state law.
- Strong verbal, written, and organizational skills.
- Current CPR certification.
- Licensed driver with a reliable, insured automobile that meets organizational requirements.
