Job Summary

Assist Physical Therapists in treating residents to restore, maintain, or prevent functional decline across the on-campus outpatient clinic and six nearby locations. Participate actively in the rehabilitation team by assisting with transfers of residents weighing up to 250 lbs, moving objects, and performing daily mobility tasks. Requires a Kansas license, graduation from an accredited PT Assistant program, and experience working with the elderly. Schedule includes Monday-Friday 9a-5p with competitive pay starting at $29/hr and full benefits including education assistance and on-site childcare.

Required Qualifications

  • Must be a graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program
  • Licensed to practice in the State of Kansas
  • Able to meet the physical demands of the job
  • Exerts up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects
  • Visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned or to make general observations of facilities or structures
  • Stoops by bending spine at the waist downward and forward
  • Kneeling on the knee to come to a rest
  • Climbs stairs and ramps, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms
  • Crouching downward and forward by bending leg and spine
  • Reaches hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction
  • Pushes forward, downward or outward
  • Lifts objects from a lower to a higher position or move objects horizontally from position to position
  • Walks to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another
  • Fingers with whole hand or arm such as picking, pinching or typing
  • Grasp by applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm
  • Feel attributes of objects, such as size, shape, temperature or texture by touching with skin, particularly that of fingertips
  • Talks to express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken word accurately, loudly, and/or quickly
  • Hears sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction
  • Has the ability to receive detailed information through oral communication
  • May be asked to assist in transferring residents weighing up to 250 lbs

Desired Qualifications

  • Previous experience working with the elderly is preferred
  • Demonstrates good communications skills, including but not limited to effective reading, writing, speaking, and analytical skills, with a fluent understanding of English
  • Possesses an empathetic approach to the elderly
  • Able to work in a team setting with residents, relatives, staff, and others
