Job Summary

Provide medically prescribed physical therapy treatment to patients recovering from injuries or affected by illness, including evaluating conditions, devising customized rehabilitation plans, and administering traction. Assess home and work environments for necessary adjustments while testing patient strength, motor development, and functional capacity to revise treatment programs. Instruct patients on physical activities and assist with ambulatory and daily-living tasks using supportive devices like crutches and prostheses. Educate caregivers on treatment procedures and evaluate treatment effects to achieve maximum benefit. Maintain professional knowledge, complete required documentation, and comply with federal, state, and local certification requirements. Work in outpatient settings with evening and weekend availability; position involves lifting up to 100 pounds and requires standing for extended periods.

Required Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy Program
  • Current PT license, in good standing with the State licensing board
  • Minimum of one (1) year PT experience, in corresponding setting and/or internship
  • Cognitive skills as related to the position
  • Evening and weekend work
  • Ability to lift fifty (50) pounds
  • Moving, lifting or transferring of patients may involve lifting of up to 100 pounds
  • Physical Therapists are required to stand for long periods of time
  • They spend considerable time stooping, kneeling and crouching
  • They assist with patient transfers and lifts or help them turn, stand or walk
  • Physical Therapists will work in out-patient settings
