Job Summary
Conduct thorough initial evaluations, including history taking and objective measurements of strength, range of motion, gait, balance, and functional capacity. Design and deliver individualized treatment plans using therapeutic exercise, manual therapy, gait training, and physical modalities, adjusting continuously as patients progress. Teach home exercise programs, safe body mechanics, and fall-prevention strategies to support patient adherence. Document evaluations, daily treatment notes, progress reports, and discharge summaries accurately in accordance with payer requirements. Coordinate with physicians, occupational therapists, nursing staff, and case management to align care, and supervise physical therapist assistants and aides. Manage your own schedule and caseload within departmental productivity expectations, verifying authorization status to prevent treatment interruptions. This 90-day contract engagement offers clinical autonomy and a diverse caseload spanning post-surgical, neurological, and geriatric presentations.
Required Qualifications
- An active, unrestricted Physical Therapy license valid in the state of Indiana
- A Doctor of Physical Therapy degree or an equivalent qualifying degree from an accredited program
- Good standing with the state licensing board
- Prior clinical experience
- A minimum of one year of post-graduation practice
- Current BLS or CPR certification
- Sound clinical reasoning
- Strong organizational skills
- The ability to manage a full caseload efficiently
- The ability to maintain documentation quality
- Clear communication with patients, families, and interdisciplinary colleagues
- Proficiency with electronic documentation systems
- Must be available for weekend shifts
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in outpatient orthopedics, home health, acute care, or skilled nursing
- Comfort across multiple settings
- Familiarity with common outcome measures and functional assessment tools
- Board certification in a clinical specialty
- Manual therapy training
- Certifications such as LSVT BIG or vestibular rehabilitation
- Prior contract or travel therapy experience
- Experience supervising PTAs or students
- Experience with electronic documentation platforms commonly used in rehabilitation settings
- Comfort treating a mixed caseload spanning post-surgical, neurological, geriatric, and general deconditioning presentations
- A collaborative approach to working alongside occupational and speech therapy colleagues
