Job Summary
Develop sports physical therapy theoretical rationale, evaluation, and treatment skills through didactic experience and clinical reasoning processes under the mentorship of sports medicine specialists. Increase clinical expertise by shadowing physicians and gaining on-field experience with certified athletic trainers while fostering critical thinking and evidence-based practice. Sit for and pass the board examination as a clinical specialist in Sports Physical Therapy. Requires a Doctoral degree from an accredited school of Physical Therapy, PT licensure in Maryland, DC, and/or Virginia, and CPR certification.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited school of Physical Therapy
- Master's degree from an accredited school of Physical Therapy
- Doctoral degree from an accredited school of Physical Therapy
- PT - Physical Therapist licensure in Maryland District of Columbia (DC) and/or Virginia
- CPR - Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation (includes BLS and NRP) for healthcare providers from either the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross within 90 Days
Desired Qualifications
- 1-2 years clinical experience in an outpatient rehabilitation setting with demonstrated clinical expertise
- Professional competency as a physical therapist or new graduate with at least one year experience Physical Therapist
- Professional competency as a general practitioner in physical therapy; demonstrates independent use of varied evaluation and treatment approaches
