Job Summary
Evaluate patients and provide inpatient physical therapy treatment programs based on physician orders. Collaborate with the healthcare team to facilitate patient transitions to post-acute or home care, adapting explanations and communication styles to specific patient populations. Assess patient responses to treatment and recommend plan changes to improve outcomes while maintaining safety. Maintain accurate patient records per documentation standards and ensure protocols align with hospital quality and safety targets. Perform other related duties as assigned, including compliance with federal, state, and local laws.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in physical therapy
- Current physical therapy license in state of practice OR eligibility for licensure by examination OR reciprocity from another state
- Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association
- Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications
- Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process
- Excellent judgment and decision-making skills and ability to deal with a variety of patients and diagnoses
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to travel throughout and between facilities
- Very Heavy Work - Exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects
- Ability to work in an environment with exposure to blood, body fluid and tissue
- Ability to work in an environment with occupational risk for exposure to all communicable diseases
- Ability to work in an environment with occupational risk for exposure to hazardous medications or hazardous waste
