Job Summary
Embedded Physical Therapist for US Air Force fighter squadrons under the Optimizing the Human Weapon System (OHWS) program. Role involves maximizing fighter aircrew physical readiness by addressing musculoskeletal injuries (neck and back related to flight), designing and implementing injury prevention and rehabilitation programs, ordering imaging and specialist consultations, documenting in approved systems, educating aircrew and leadership on injury prevention, ergonomics, and recovery strategies, and complying with DHA/DoD/MTF protocols.
Required Qualifications
- Doctor of Physical Therapy from CAPTE-accredited program
- 5+ years' experience as a PT in collegiate, professional, Olympic, tactical (military), aerospace environments or similar high-performance settings with recent experience
- Current CPR/AED certification (American Heart Association or American Red Cross)
- Current (or ability to obtain) Secret security clearance (T3 background investigation)
- One of the following: ABPTS OCS or SCS; orthopedic or sports residency/fellowship; Advanced Dry Needling (Level 2) and Orthopedic Manual Therapy (OMT) certification
- Legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship now or in the future
- Knowledge, skills, and abilities: injury assessment, treatment of acute and chronic conditions, clinical decision-making, documentation, communication with aircrew and leadership
- Compliance with DHA, DoD, and MTF protocols
