Job Summary
Assess, diagnose, and treat incarcerated individuals with physical impairments using exercise, manual therapy, and modalities to improve mobility and reduce pain. Conduct physical examinations evaluating range of motion, strength, balance, and coordination; review medical histories and imaging results to identify underlying conditions. Develop individualized treatment plans, educate patients on self-care strategies, and track progress while collaborating with physicians, nurses, and occupational therapists. Maintain patient records and adhere to correctional healthcare policies, legal requirements, and confidentiality standards. Requires an unrestricted Physical Therapist license, BLS/CPR certification, and ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Required Qualifications
- Must hold and maintain a current, unrestricted Physical Therapist license in the state where you are practicing
- Must possess an active BLS/CPR Certification (AHA required)
- Must have the ability to stand for long periods
- Must have the ability to lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds)
- Must have the ability to bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk significant distances, and perform physically demanding tasks like CPR, all while maintaining good balance and endurance throughout a shift
- Must pass the facility's criminal background check and drug screening
- Must have the ability to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information and integrity, professionalism and ability to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, compassion, and attentiveness are necessary for interacting with staff, patients, and other healthcare professionals
