Job Summary

Orthopedic Physical Therapy Resident is a 1-year, part-time role based onsite at Cayuga Health, providing focused didactic and clinical education in Orthopedic Physical Therapy while delivering high-quality patient care. The Resident will accumulate 300 hours of education, 150 hours of 1:1 clinical mentoring, and 1500 hours of clinical practice, and must meet departmental clinical standards for outcomes, productivity, and professional behavior. Responsibilities include conducting clinical examinations, establishing diagnoses, developing plans of care, implementing therapeutic interventions (therapeutic exercise, manual therapy, patient education, modalities), documenting encounters, supervising Physical Therapist Assistants, students, and volunteers, attending educational opportunities, and demonstrating teaching in lab and clinical settings. Required skills include completion of an accredited Doctorate of Physical Therapy program, NYS PT licensure or eligibility, current CPR, and readiness for new graduate engagement; preferred skills emphasize problem-solving, communication, time management, and adaptability. Location details include onsite work at Cayuga Wellness Center in Ithaca, NY with potential assignments to Brentwood and Cortland; schedule is days/evenings, 30 hours per week with occasional local travel involved.
